Journey to a Sacred Site this Winter Solstice with 5 crystals that have the power to transform energy.

The Winter Solstice is about delving into the mysteries of the unknown. It is an invitation to be fully grounded in the present time connecting with the deepest parts of your soul. During the longest night of the year, you are being asked to become fully aware of yourself, acknowledging that there is still much that you do not know while being at peace with that reality. The darkness beckons you to find comfort in surrender by pushing past fear to truly trust in your own innate power and the goodness of the Universe.

At this moment, you have everything you need inside of you to overcome any obstacles that you face. When you are ready, and only at that time, you will be given additional insight and wisdom in order to conquer future challenges. Life will continue to teach you lessons only if you find the richness in your perceived failures.

The Temple of the Winter Solstice

Newgrange is an Ancient Temple built over 5,000 years ago as the physical manifestation of the Winter Solstice here on Earth. This cavernous structure was built with a main ritual chamber deep inside. Four days a year, at the Winter Solstice, light seeps into this chamber fully illuminating it around 9am each day from December 19–23. Otherwise, this monument remains dark inside.

It is a reminder that in the darkness, our path is fully illuminated. During the day, all opportunities look bright and promising but the depth of the night is the only time that clearly shows the way.

Reflect on this wisdom as you use this time of year to recreate yourself. Be fully aware of the person you are today as you set intentions for the New Year. Let go of the person that you used to be. Grieve that beautiful version of yourself so that you can create space to evolve into the person that you are meant to be. As you time travel from the past to the future, keep your feet grounded in the here and now because that is where the work is to be done.

For this Winter Solstice, I selected stones found in Ireland that will help you connect to the sacred energy of Newgrange. Work with these stones to fully embrace the magic of this powerful celestial event and allow yourself to be at peace with the darkness. Simply envision Newgrange as you work with these stones in order to feel the energy of this sacred place. Let the night completely fill you up, cleanse your spirit, and then open yourself up to the growing presence of the light.

Quartz

Find a translucent to opaque piece of quartz. You want it to look murky to represent the mysterious side of magic. This stone will hold certain energies while cleansing your aura. Let this stone work for you by placing it on your altar or directly in front of you during meditation. It will ground energy so that you can be more present in your spiritual journey. As questions and confusion come up, let them be for now. Your piece of quartz will hold on to them and transmute chaos into clarity once the Winter Solstice is over.

Aquamarine

This is the closest embodiment to water that you will find in a crystal. During the Winter Solstice, use a transparent piece of aquamarine to cleanse your aura. Sweep your crystal around your body in fluid motions and let its refreshing energy wash over you. Breath deeply as you inhale pure, clean air and exhale negative thoughts. This cool, watery stone will cleanse your spirit so that you can be reborn in the New Year.

Serpentine

Serpentine enables healing through the spirit of Mother Earth. While the sun sets and the moon fades, the earth is a constant companion in your life. Hold a piece of serpentine at your heart and allow the energy to fill up your body. It provides feelings of safety and confidence as an anchor to allow risk taking in creative and spiritual pursuits.

Topaz

If the darkness of the night threatens to consume you, reach for Topaz. It can be your illumination in the dark. Allow it to brighten up your spirit and offer cheer if sinister thoughts overwhelm you. Hold Topaz in your hand and gaze at it to be reminded that sunnier days are ahead of you.

Copper

As the night bleeds away and takes with it fear, uncertainty and mystery, use copper to spark new beginnings. Copper is a powerful transmitter of energy and works as a bridge with the spiritual realm to manifest ideas into reality. Hold a piece of copper at your third eye for intense clarity on how to start your next venture. Follow the electricity contained in this material in order to take your first steps towards a new life.
